Ed Garden has been chief investment officer and a founding partner of Trian since November 2005. Garden currently serves on the board of The Bank of New York Mellon, where he is chairman of the human resources and compensation committee. Garden is also a director of Pentair and a member of its compensation committee.

Garden previously served as a director of Wendy's from December 2004 to December 2015 and Family Dollar Stores from September 2011 to July 2015. In October 2014, Garden was named to CNBC's Next List, composed of 100 next-generation trailblazers expected to change the face of business over the next 25 years.

Previously, Garden served as vice chairman and a director of Triarc Companies, where he was also head of corporate development. Prior to joining Triarc, Garden was a managing director of Credit Suisse First Boston, where he served as a senior investment banker, and BT Alex Brown, where he was co-head of Equity Capital Markets.

Garden received a BA from Harvard College.
